Large Insurers Start Jumping Ship


Drawing closer every minute is the monumental start date of the state insurance marketplace, which is one of the main features to Obamacare. Starting October 1st, people can go onto the marketplace and begin enrolling in health plans. However, for a few big name insurers, there is too much unknown risk associated with the marketplaces. Aetna, United Healthcare, and Cigna have started calling it quits by pulling out of select state marketplaces.

The battle has begun, the mud has been thrown, and both sides are out for blood. Ok, not really, but the battlefield is still pretty heated. The Heritage Foundation is a conservative group looking to defund ObamaCare with their national tour that just wrapped up in Delaware. Americans United For Change is a liberal group in support of the Obama administration and Protect Your Care is an advocate for the Affordable Care Act.

How Large Companies Are Dealing With Part-Time Employees Under ObamaCare

We are now just 36 days away from the October 1st enrollment date for the individual mandate of ObamaCare, which will take effect January 1, 2014. Meanwhile, the group mandate has been delayed until 2015; however, we are seeing companies already preparing for 2015. Some big companies are trying to get a head start on ObamaCare to get a handle on their budget for 2015, which is when they are required to offer benefits to all their workers, including part-time employees. Moreover, it seems some companies are using ObamaCare as a scapegoat to cut employee benefits, while others are welcoming it with open arms.
