America, Lets Get Ready To Rumble!

The battle has begun, the mud has been thrown, and both sides are out for blood. Ok, not really, but the battlefield is still pretty heated. The opponents, The Heritage Foundation vs. Americans United for Change & Protect Your Care. The Heritage Foundation is a conservative group looking to defund ObamaCare with their national tour that just wrapped up in Delaware. Americans United For Change is a liberal group in support of the Obama administration and Protect Your Care is an advocate for the Affordable Care Act.

The battle began with The Heritage Foundation's throwdown who ran their “Defund Obamacare Town Hall Tour” last week that ended on the 29th in Delaware. The tour made headlines, but accomplished very little and upset some fellow conservatives in the process. According to the National Journal, “the Republican Study Committee—a group of 172 conservative House members—has barred Heritage Foundation employees from attending its weekly meeting in the Capitol.” According to Mike Needham, CEO for Heritage Action for America, “Many members of Congress, including almost every Republican that I know of, committed to their constituents that they would do almost everything they could to stop Obamacare. There's a great opportunity coming up right now and it's really an urgent opportunity."

In a response to The Heritage Foundation, America United for Change & Protect Your Care joined forces in an effort to stop The Heritage Foundation’s campaign. According to Eddie Vale from Protect Your Care, “We're going to be running an aggressive communications operation nationally and in states to fight back against...extremists who want to take away people's health care benefits.” And fight back they did, at each of the nine town halls that The Heritage Foundation visited they were met by Health Care Reform supporters fueled by America United for Change & Protect Your Care. According to Brad Woodhouse, president of Americans United for Change, “[we] are going to meet the repealers and defunders on the battlefield and confront them directly and aggressively.”

It's about a month to go before the ‘ObamaCare’ Marketplace begins open enrollment and it seems this battle will wage on up until and beyond the October 1st deadline. With recent government delays and vocal organizations like The Heritage Foundation, it could have some affect on ObamaCare. However, the Obama administration is sticking to their guns, “we are on target and ready to flip the switch on Oct. 1," said Kathleen Sebelius, Health and Human Services Secretary.
